The Family I did pick.

You'll find photos here.
I met my wife Lisa
[photo] on-line while I was
running the Cracker Barrel BBS. It's not as though I was out
lurking, looking for someone to pounce on... I'd had two
previously failed marriages, and had pretty much given up on
trying again. When Lisa dialed in, I honestly can't tell you
whether she requested a chat or I just jumped in (as I sometimes
did), but whichever it was I'm glad it happened! Perhaps it was
her handle, "Magic", that hooked me at first. Whatever
it was, we chatted for several weeks before ever talking or
meeting face-to-face.
I knew that it would go somewhere when I asked my
brothers if they'd ever met her and they said, "Yes, stay
away from her!" (understanding my brothers as I do, that
constituted an endorsement). Anyway, we met, surrounded by her
friends, and eventually married. Best thing I ever did. (So if
you feel like scoffing at people who meet on-line and want to get
married, stifle it. It worked for us, and also for my good friends
Peter and Casey Brooks.)
We've got children!
William
[photo] is mine from a
previous marriage (if you're curious, don't bother. I don't
discuss previous marriages. I've got complete custody.) He's
twelve years old as of this writing.
While most kids his age love dinosaurs, (I know I
did), William is the only kid I know who has sent fan mail to
paleontologists. His favorite is Jack Horner. He's interested in the
usual teenage things... girls, Mortal
Kombat, video games, etc.
He's got his
own website, if you'd like to meet him. The site is hopelessly
out-of date... he's been busy. Just this summer (2001) he participated
in two mission trips, one to Tennessee and one to West Virginia to
build a church; and a three-week trip to the island of St. Maartin.
This year he's starting high school, and is active in ROTC (he's
on the drill team).
Michael [photo]
and Timothy [photo] are
twins! Imagine Lisa's surprise when she had the ultrasound!
Their birthday is April 1st. Lisa was actually scheduled for a
checkup on April 1st 1996, and while there the doctor told her
that it was time, and she was about to have the kids. So there I
am in the waiting room and a nurse comes out to tell me that I
have to take Lisa to the hospital right now, even though she's a
month early! "Riiiight," I think, "April
Fool! Real funny." Well, it was no joke, and two hours
later we had twins born two minutes apart. It was Timothy's
fault... seems he couldn't sit still long enough to be born on
schedule. He still can't sit still.
As for the twins, they're like night and day...
Michael is quiet, reserved (stoic, even!), and likes to
deliberately take things apart while you're not looking. He's
also never met a stranger. Timothy is shy, emotional, and likes
to "narc" on Mike. They both like singing, VeggieTales,
Blue's Clues,
Pokemon, and Digimon.
